GORGEOUS ART: Why MARVEL or DC Should Hire DAKOTA ALEXANDER as a Cover Artist

About a year and a half ago, I ran a piece about fan artist Dakota Alexander, whose bright, vibrant illustrative style should not be overlooked by comicdom at large.

Well, Dakota’s still at it, regularly posting gorgeous illustrations on Facebook. Lately, he’s been doing more Marvel than DC but the inescapable conclusion is that either publishing house would do well to consider hiring Dakota for cover work.

I mean, every other comic has 15 variant covers, so there’s gotta be room for a guy who’s able to combine classic styling with modern graphic techniques, right?

  1. Dakota Alexander’s art style is as vibrant as ever. The higher-ups at Marvel or DC would so real well in hiring him as a cover artist.

  2. Dakota’s art style kind of reminds me of the late, great Darwyn Cooke. Someone should definitely hire Dakota for some part of its lineup.

  4. Great designs! I’d buy them all. My personal taste would have Ironman’s pointed face mask and no pouches on BATMAN’s belt. Otherwise, great stuff!

  5. I’ve been fortunate enough to call Dakota a friend for years. Artistically and personally he’s as inspiring as he is talented.
