GOLDEN AGE GOLD: Dig These 13 Magnificent Old-School Illustrations

Artist John K. Snyder III brings classic DC to you in living color…

No big intro needed here, folks:

I was moseying through Facebook the other day and came upon this lovely quartet of Golden Age Batman images by artist John K. Snyder III, who did fine work for DC Comics in the ’80s and ’90s:

Clockwise: Batman, Catwoman, the Joker, the Penguin

My goodness, is that pretty or what?

Not just that, it turned out John also illustrated others in the DC canon:

Clockwise: Superman, Wonder Woman, Lois Lane, Batwoman

Clockwise: Green Lantern, the Sandman, Dr. Mid-Nite, the Spectre

And for good measure, here’s a hero who pre-dates them all, to make for 13 fab images:

Zorro

I love the Golden Age and classic characters,” John told me. “This was a batch of them I did over the summer, and I love the inset circle format, like the old Golden Age covers when the characters were featured in the upper corners.”

If you want to see more of Snyder’s recent work — and by golly you do — check out his website here.

  1. Awesome work here. Would love to see more classic JSA stuff! I don’t buy new comics anymore (since 52) but I’d buy this!
