BATMAN ’66: Miss Julie Newmar is timeless…
—
UPDATED 4/27/24: Our friend, the late Dr. Stewart Berkowitz’s birthday was this week (he was born April 26, 1959). He was the “Alfred” who owned one of the greatest Batman ’66 collections ever. In his honor, this weekend we are presenting highlights from that collection, which we first featured in 2018. Click here for much more. — Dan

It’s the lovely and talented Miss Julie Newmar’s birthday — so it’s the perfect time to show off another costume from the Alfred Collection: Hers.
“Alfred,” you see, is an anonymous collector who owns the greatest trove of screen-used Batman ’66 memorabilia that you are likely to ever see:
So far, we’ve shown you UP-CLOSE LOOKS at his Robin (click here) and Riddler (click here) costumes, as well as the original Penguin submarine prop from the 1966 movie (click here). You can also click here to keep track of it all.
Anyway, we figured that Miss Newmar’s birthday was the right time to show off Alfred’s Catwoman outfit:
The jumpsuit and belt are both screen-used but to complete the look, Alfred added first-rate replicas of the mask, ears, gloves, boots and necklace. And that terrific mannequin head was produced by artist Greg Maraio:
When you see the whole package, it’s like Julie Newmar stepped out of a time warp from 1966.
Beauteous.

That’s a really lovely costume.

I seem to recall reading somewhere (many MANY years ago) that Ms Newmar was not happy with the original costume and designed her own which became the costume she wore for her two years in the series. Does anyone know if this is true?

Not too sure about that Randall B. But I do know because of Julie’s extremely shapley body, (her hips more specifically)the sexy way that she wore her belt was entirely her idea alone. Hope this helps my friend.

Yes; Julie ” enhanced ” her costume to make her body parts more supported & pronounced !

In the background I see the Deathmobile from Animal house and the station wagon from National Lampoon’s Vacation. That is some collection.
