EXCLUSIVE! Boy, there’s some great stuff coming…
The past week or so has been a whirlwind on the Facsimile Edition front. DC has six coming in May, Marvel has two, and the two companies are teaming up to bring back JLA/Avengers, to boot. That, plus the Supergirl news earlier this month.
Well, folks, the hits just keep on coming. Over here, we have the EXCLUSIVE news that DC will be publishing a third wave of Super Powers covers by Jason “ToyOtter” Geyer and Alex Saviuk.
There will be nine variants in all and they’ll each be attached to a Facsimile Edition. Three of those issues — 1986’s DKR #4, 1990’s Lobo #1, and 2006’s Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes #23 — have already been announced, but here are the other six, in the order they are shown on the Dark Knight Returns #4 Super Powers back cover:

Several thoughts:
— When Lobo #1 was first announced, it wasn’t clear which series it would be. As noted above, it’s from the 1990 mini.
— Other than The Dark Knight Returns #4, none of these have been solicited yet, so we don’t yet know sales dates, pricing, or info on foil and sketch covers.
— I’m (educated) guessing that Detective Comics #27 will be a Batman Day thing in September.
— This is by no means a comprehensive list of Facsimiles that are coming. Just the ones with Super Powers covers.

I’m excited about the JLA #200 facsimile, although I think the price will be so high I’ll limit the purchase to copies for friend’s children.
I’ve already bought so many other JLA books for our Halloween visitors that I’ll just have to miss out on this one.
There’s only so much money to go around, at this point I’ve reduced my purchases from 50 ( 100 in some cases, JLA #21, the Adventure books featuring Superboy) to 30 because I have bought so many DC facsimiles for trick or treaters to choose from.
I still would like to see some more Silver Age releases from the Schwartz stable such a Atom #7, JLA #22 and any early Gil Kane, Green Lantern book.

Damn, that you’re giving out comics at all for Hallowe’eners, there’s no need to feel bad that you’ve cut down to “only” 30 per issue. Buying the foil and the regular cover feels like I’m spending too much money, and that’s buying them for myself!

We give out between 600 and 800 comics, children’s books ( usually super hero or Disney oriented) and coloring books every Halloween.

I used to have Green Lantern #50 – bought it when it came out. I’m sure it had a glow-in-the-dark cover. Will they replicate that?

They are abandoning the importance of many Golden Age comics. We need to have so many more historic issues in our hands.

I agree 100%. Even if the source material isn’t in the best condition, I’d be happy with whatever is the “best” that is possible. BATMAN #11 is top of my list.

Super Powers are just variants. Regular covers will be available.
