DC Sets FIVE Major FACSIMILE EDITIONS for APRIL

EXCLUSIVE! The official Teen Titans debut — celebrating its 60th anniversary — the first Aquaman, the first Green Arrow and MORE!

DC in April will have five Facsimile Editions — including a trio of long-sought classic issues, two Batman: Hush installments, plus another Super Powers variant cover.

The top of the heap is Superman #233, featuring Neal Adams’ classic cover that’s one of the most famous images of the Man of Steel. Click here for all the details.

The Super Powers cover is a riff on Superman #233 and you can get the full rundown here.

Also in the lineup are two other landmarks — April 1965’s The Brave and the Bold #60, the first official appearance of the Teen Titans, and September 1941’s More Fun Comics #73, which features the debuts of Aquaman and Green Arrow, not to mention a cover story starring Dr. Fate (in his half-mask!), plus tales of the Spectre and Johnny Quick.

Dig the solicitations for those two, as well as the Hush issues. They’ll be formally released later Friday:

A few thoughts:

— Again, check out the links below for the info on Superman #233 and its Super Powers variant cover.

— Both B&B and More Fun fall under the I’m Amazed it Took Them This Long category. And I correctly predicted that Superman #233 would be released with James Gunn’s movie premiering in July. Anyway, B&B comes out 60 years and one day after the original. We already have a Facsimile Edition of the team’s unofficial start.

Obligatory Price Comparison No. 1: Speaking of the original, an unslabbed FN+ Brave and the Bold #60 recently sold on ebay for about $275.

Obligatory Price Comparison No. 2: You’re not likely to find an unslabbed More Fun #73. A 5.0-graded and sealed copy went for $66,000, including buyer’s premium, via Heritage Auctions on Jan. 9.

  1. No interest in the Hush reprints. But I’ll definitely take (5) copies each of the B&B and More Fun. (Though I am no fan of the half helmet Fate. Not sure what they were thinking there.)

  3. Great to see these books ‘re-issued’…!!
I wished more emphasis would be placed on the past of DC.
