Several thoughts:

— The new cover (top) features the classic Batman #227 by Neal Adams and replaces Adams’ similarly classic Batman #244 cover.
— Here’s why: The original retail description included Batman #217-244, Detective Comics #393-426, Limited Collectors’ Edition #C-51, and The Saga of Ra’s Al Ghul #1-4. So, basically they’re trimming Detective by four issues on the back end, and, more significantly, the three issues of the trilogy that ended the original Ra’s al Ghul saga. By extension, it makes sense that the covers from #C-51 and the Saga reprint miniseries are excluded too.
— I imagine, then, that Vol. 2 will take on the Batman #244 cover. Or maybe not. Either way, Batman #244 will be getting a Facsimile Edition in May.
