Another reprint program coming soon…
Some years back, DC brought the Dollar Comics brand back for $1 reprints of famous stories. They weren’t Facsimile Editions because they didn’t have the period ads, letters, backups and whatnot. But it was an exceptionally inexpensive way to pick up some classics or sample a series.
The line didn’t last for long because it was a business casualty of COVID. While Facsimile Editions came back, Dollar Comics — named for the beloved Bronze Age format — did not.
But come this fall, DC is reintroducing a line of dollar reprints — dubbed “Start Here!” — clearly designed to get readers to sample what’s in collected editions.
The first four are, no surprise, Batman titles:

Batman Dark Patterns was a very engaging series! I’m glad I jumped on it before some of the early issues went rare and higher in price.
I’m still surprised and disappointed that the collected edition was not a deluxe hardcover.
