When the Empire takes Princess Leia prisoner, Luke, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2 ride to the rescue and take on Darth Vader in his awesome Death Star. Fun news for Halloween season! PLUS: What’s ahead for RetroFan… In October, a young man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of ghosts and goblins, so the mad scientists over at TwoMorrows have some news for you — four more issues added to Cryptology’s schedule in 2027 and reaching into 2028. Plus, the latest on RetroFan! Dig the solicitation info: CRYPTOLOGY #16 “Can you hear them? The children of the night are baying beneath the light of a new full moon, as I, the Cryptologist, unleash the ferocity of our werewolf issue! We commence this feral onslaught with a look at Lon Chaney Jr.’s Inner Sanctum mysteries from the 1940s. Then, when the goosebumps have gone down, I will whisk you away to the UCLA Film and Television archive, the new domain of werewolf maestro John Landis. I’ve tracked down John’s American Werewolf in London and a few other lycanthropes from this aging city, as well as Warren Zevon’s ‘Werewolves of London.’ If you escape these, you will have no choice but to come face-to-face with Fiction House’s ‘Werewolf Hunter’ along with droves of marauding comic book werewolves, wrapped up by Hammer’s own Curse of the Werewolf. So, if you like your vintage werewolves (and who doesn’t?), this issue of my nasty little magazine is definitely for you! Awooooh!!!” Print: $10.95 Digital: $4.99 Sale Date: 7/14/27 — CRYPTOLOGY #17 “Aren’t you the lucky one? For I, your good friend the Cryptologist, have exhumed some of Basil Wolverton’s most hideous creations for my latest issue! I’ve also lured in a modern day mistress of the macabre to display her eerie artistry—none other than Barcelona born artist Suspiria herself, who offers up an illuminating interview. There’s oodles of pre-Code horror comics on show, and as you will see, even when the Hayes Code tried to put an end to our movie-going fun, provocative psychosexual thrillers still had us queuing at the theater door. Make sure you get home safely though, because you won’t want to endure this issue’s forgotten horror Motel Hell. Dario Argento’s 1977 film Suspiria also falls under the microscope along with Amicus’ entire run of horrors, and our Killer-B department uncovers the films Day of the Triffids and From Hell It Came. And if you’ve time, why not try one of our creepy jigsaw puzzles? They’re hours of deathly...
