Artist Rafael Albuquerque made the request.
According to CBR, Albuquerque stated: “My intention was never to hurt or upset anyone through my art. For that reason, I have recommended to DC that the variant cover be pulled.”
We’ve been writing about this for a couple of days now. We came down hard against it. Good call, DC and Mr. Albuquerque.
I will say this, though: Anybody who threatened anyone with violence or harassment on either side of this debate is a coward and a thug. There’s no place for that in any discourse anywhere. That’s disgusting.

Important to note that people were threatened for opposing the cover, not supporting it, so the condemnation of that action being phrased as a caveat is misleading.

Thank you. Very good point and I’ll clarify that.
