EXCLUSIVE! Coming a month out from the new movie…

I like being surprised by what Facsimile Editions a company puts out, but I also like it when I see it coming and correctly predict it.

This is the latter. Marvel in June will be releasing 2008’s reality-shattering The Amazing Spider-Man #546 — the first issue of the controversial Brand New Day era.

Because, y’see, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth movie in the Tom Holland cycle, will be hitting theaters in July.

Buncha thoughts:

— I can’t believe it’s been more than 18 years since this came out. The way Peter and Mary Jane’s marriage was undone still sticks in some craws, but at least it wasn’t Superboy-Prime punching a cosmic wall or anything.

— I’m not exactly a genius for predicting this and have been forecasting it for some time. Besides the upcoming movie, the comics’ Brand New Day era followed the aftermath of Civil War, which was just re-released in full as seven Facsimile Editions. (Civil War is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and Marvel has a bunch of homage variant covers coming in celebration, by the way.)

— Marvel is not planning to reprint the subsequent, initial Brand New Day issues, just the first.

— Like I mentioned, Marvel has two Facsimiles in June, not counting Avengers/JLA #2, which is being published by DC. Links below!
