BATMAN AND ROBIN ON THE ROOFTOP: What if the Famed ’60s Pin-Up Was Done in the 1980s?

DESPOP TUESDAYS!

We’re always looking for an excuse to do a story on Carmine Infantino and Murphy Anderson’s 1966 Batman and Robin rooftop pin-up. And now we have another one!

Dig our pal Des Taylor’s version, which places the classic tableau in the 1980s (inspired by the art of Jim Aparo):

Here’s the original, by the way…

… and Des’ original ’66 homage piece, which we’ve already shown off:

I can totally see doing this for all sorts of other Bat-eras.

Y’hear that, Des? Y’HEAR THAT?

  1. Now that we have “Spider-Man vs. Superman” off the wish list, I’d love for them to republish a “facsimile” of the classic “30s to 70s” edition. I’d love to have fresh copies of that one for sure. Old copies go for $30+ on eBay all the time so you know there’s a market of some sort.

    • I was such a daft kid I expected that book to have all the stories from four decades.

      • My grandparents bought me my copy at the Hallmark store at the Westland Mall back in the day for the promise of “always eating my vegetables”. I tried. I honestly tried. They paid $10 for my copy. I used to just drool over the pages with the particular decade’s covers. I would dream about owning all of them. So many great memories tied to that book.

    • First thing that popped in my mind when I saw that picture was “Batman from the 30s to the 70s” 😀 . I never did have a copy, but the city library had one, and I’ve always wanted this. A friend had “Superman from the 30s to the 70s”, which I borrowed and read, but I was never a big fan of Superman.

      • How about doing facsimiles of the individual issues featured in the book, and have a slipcase (and booklet with the extra pages) to hold all the comics?
