BACK ISSUE Magazine to Celebrate 50 Years of CONAN Comics

EXCLUSIVE: Featuring Roy Thomas, Ernie Colon, Mike Grell — and MORE…

From Conan the Barbarian #1. Pencils by Barry Windsor-Smith. Inks by John Verpoorten.

The page has turned on another year, which means it’s time to gear up for a new round of anniversaries.

In this case, 2020 is the 50th anniversary of Conan the Barbarian’s 1970 Marvel and U.S. comics debut, by Roy Thomas and Barry Windsor-Smith (with a big nod to creator Robert E. Howard.)

Cool, right?

Well, TwoMorrows’ Back Issue #121 — due in June — has you covered with an edition dedicated to the Cimmerian’s four-color adventures, from the Bronze Age and beyond. Not only that, other barbaric types like Arak and Kull get the spotlight as well.

Dig the cover and the official description:

July 2020 – 84 FULL-COLOR pages

Back Issue #121 is our Conan and the Barbarians issue, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Roy Thomas and Barry Windsor-Smith’s Conan #1! The Bronze Age Barbarian Boom, Top 50 Marvel Conan stories, Marvel’s Not-Quite Conans (from Kull to Skull), Arak–Son of Thunder, Warlord action figures, Gray Morrow’s Edge of Chaos, and Conan the Barbarian at Dark Horse Comics. Joining Roy Thomas are Kurt Busiek, Ernie Colon, Chuck Dixon, Mike Grell, Ron Randall, Dann Thomas, Timothy Truman, Marv Wolfman, and many more. Featuring the never-before-published alternate cover for Marvel’s Conan #9, from 1971. Edited by Michael Eury.

Editor Michael Eury and his band of lusty adventurers can always be counted on to bring it, so I expect this will be one helluva party.

All you need to supply is your own pelt, broadsword and goblet of grog.

As usual, Back Issue #121 will be available in comics shops but you can also get it directly through TwoMorrows. (Click here to pre-order.)
