So if you dug the Apes Week epicness by folks like Corinna Sara Bechko, Gabriel Hardman and Rich Handley, you’re probably thinking, “Jeez, I gotta get some Apes swag.” Well, here’s your handy guide to what you can get your stinkin’ paws on this holiday season:
I’ll start off the festivities with one of my favorite topics: Megos.
Now other than Batman and other superheroes, I was obsessed with my POTA Megos. I only had Cornelius and Dr. Zaius but that was enough at the time. I really, really wanted to the Apes treehouse that I’d see on TV commercials but I wasn’t as fortunate as I was in getting the Batcave. Nevertheless, my dad, who knew his way around a saw, built a scale treehouse from scratch. In retrospect, it was a really cool gesture, even though it didn’t quit scratch the itch for me at the time.
Anyway, Megos disappeared but of course in this century everything old is new again and an outfit called EMCE toys recreated the Apes Megos and put them to market a few years back. You can pretty much find them by Googling because they’re mostly on the secondary market now. Still, they’re far less expensive than original Megos on eBay. So these are an awesome gift for the playful chimp in your home:
