AMAZING WORLD OF SUPERMAN Treasury to Be Released as Hardcover FACSIMILE EDITION

Up, up and OH YEAH!

Back in the early days of treasury-size comics, DC published Amazing World of Superman, a beloved primer on all things Man of Steel, with classic stories and various other fun features.

Well come 2021, DC is planning to reprint this 1973 tabloid — for the first time ever — as a hardcover Facsimile Edition, according to a listing at DC’s book distributor Penguin Random House.

Check out the details, along with placeholder art that mimics the original cover:

Amazing World of Superman (Tabloid Edition)

The brilliant retelling of Superman’s origin story is reprinted in its original, tabloid-size format for the first time!

This tabloid-size masterpiece includes the story of Superman Land with Lex Luthor, Superboy stories, “How to Draw Superman”, “Superman Family Portrait”, and more!

A few thoughts:

— I am so, so glad that DC appears to be keeping the treasury Facsimile Editions coming — and this one’s never been reprinted in any format. 1977’s All New Collectors’ Edition #C-54: Superman vs. Wonder Woman is coming soon. (Click here.)

— This is not the only groovy reprint news: DC is planning a Who’s Who Omnibus — finally! Click here for the details.

— The 72-page Superman book lists for a mere $19.99 and is set for April 2021.

— Standard price comparison: Originals tend to go in the same $20 ballpark but this edition will be sturdy hardcover and minty as all get out.

— Standard caveat: This has not been solicited by DC yet, so nothing is official until it’s official. Even then, things can change. Just keep coming to 13th Dimension for updates.

  1. I used to live an hour away from Metropolis, Illinois. This Treasury showed what the proposed theme park was going to look like in Metropolis. It’s a shame it wasn’t built but a town the size of Metropolis probably couldn’t have handled it anyway.

  2. Was the original all B&W?
