Well, we hoped that this is what DC had up its sleeve.
Comics artist Doc Shaner posted on Instagram on Sunday evening that the publisher would be releasing the long-awaited 1982 DC Comics Style Guide — featuring art by Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez, naturally — this August:
Details are scarce. As the ad notes, this is a collaboration with Standards Manual. Beyond that, neither DC nor Standards Manual has put out any information such as an exact release date or price. There are no online retail or catalogue listings that I can find. The ad notes this address, standardsmanual.com/dc, where you can join a wait list now.

A few thoughts:
— To bring you up to speed, we brought you the news in April that DC in July would release seven variant covers featuring Garcia-Lopez’s Style Guide art. You can find the details here. I’ve already pre-ordered mine.
— We also suggested this was an early sign that the Style Guide would finally be released. To this point, it was only available to retailers and industry professionals. Fans have desperately wanted to get their hands on it for decades. 13th Dimension contributor Chris Franklin — who spotted this news Sunday night in a post by Steve Leach in the Pod Stallions Facebook Group — wrote a terrific piece about it. — This is easily one of the year’s most exciting announcements to date. I’ve no idea if this edition will include later Style Guide entries or whether those might be saved for follow-ups. Again, keep coming back to 13th Dimension for updates.

This is a licensed product, so DC won’t be releasing the release date on this. All info will be coming from the licensor.

Earlier the link at Standards said August. Now it’s gone. However a search from the main page says sold out.

Here’s more information I received from the rep at Standards Manual:
In terms of details we’ll be announcing more in the coming weeks. It will be similar in size and specs to our NASA tittle however, as the original page sizes of both are 8.5 x 11.

I’m just happy that this guide is finally gonna see the light of day in the public’s eyes. The Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez Fans page on Facebook has its own copy of the guide. 🙂
