13 SUPERMAN COVERS: A WAYNE BORING Birthday Celebration

One of the Super-greats was born 112 years ago.

As I noted last year, Wayne Boring — born June 5, 1905 — was one of those artists whose style became shorthand when referring to a specific time in Superman’s career — in this case the ’40s and ’50s. There’s the Shuster Superman, the Boring Superman, the Swan Superman, etc.

  1. Great covers ! These simple covers from this era has to be given a name. Maybe there is a genre name and I just do not know it. They are so different from darken clutter we see today. Thanks.
