13 COVERS: A SWANDERSON Celebration

It’s Murphy Anderson’s birthday…

Murphy Anderson is one of my favorite Silver/Bronze Age artists but of the 13 COVERS salutes we’ve done celebrating his work, it occurs to me that we’ve never spotlighted his collaboration with Curt Swan on Superman. (Their pairing, of course, came to be known as Swanderson.)

Anderson would have been 92 — he was born July 9, 1926, and died in 2015.

So dig this 13 COVERS retrospective.

All covers pencilled by Swan and inked by Anderson:

  2. Coming to comics In 1974, I missed most of the Swanderson covers, although I did get to see their splendid interiors. The issues posted above were my golden oldies – books I recognized but hadn’t read. In celebration the of the recent Action 1000. I recently collected a bunch of old (to me) Action Comics- including 5 of the books pictured above!
