13 COVERS: A STEVE LIGHTLE Birthday Tribute

The late artist was born 62 years ago…

Earlier this year, ’80s comics mainstay Steve Lightle died at 61 from COVID-related cardiac arrest. As a memorial tribute, we published 13 COVERS featuring some of his best-known work — on DC’s Legion of Super-Heroes.

But Lightle was also well known for a run of covers he did for Marvel’s Classic X-Men/X-Men Classic that reinterpreted concepts from the mutants’ most storied period — the Bronze Age.

Lightle was born Nov. 19, 1959, and we present these 13 COVERS from that series as a birthday salute:
