13 COVERS: A MARIE SEVERIN Birthday Salute

The comics pioneer turns 89…

Marie Severin, born Aug. 21, 1929, was one of the only women working in mainstream comics in the Silver and Bronze ages and was one of the preeminent colorists of the day. She was also a terrific penciller with a dynamic style that very much fit with the House of Ideas.

Here is this year’s 13 COVERS tribute:

  2. Happy bday to the legend. She was never given her true props in that male-dominated industry. The Red Skull cover has to be one of Marvel’s best ever.
