13 COVERS: A JOE KUBERT Birthday Celebration

The late comics legend was born 93 years ago…

Everything Joe Kubert illustrated in the Silver and Bronze Ages he infused with grit and gravitas. No wonder he was drawn to war and adventure comics.

Sgt. Rock? That makes sense. Superman? Hmm.

But Kubert — who was born Sept. 18, 1926, and died in 2012 — was one of the all-time greats, so it only makes sense that he’d end up working on characters that might not at first blush suit his particular milieu.

For this year’s 13 COVERS birthday salute, then, we’re presenting a selection of Kubert’s more unlikely pieces. Just to mix things up a bit.

Dig it.
