13 COVERS: A Special BATMAN AND ROBIN Celebration

Happiness is having your own sidekick.

It’s a special day.

At least it is for me and my family. See, my kid turns 18 today.

Wow.

Now, one of the best things about having a kid is you get to have your very own sidekick. And I couldn’t be any luckier that Sam is mine (and my wife Wendy’s, for that matter).

At San Diego Comic-Con in 2010.

On Father’s Day, I published 13 COVERS featuring Batman and Robin for just this reason. (Click here.) But having your own website means getting to do it again — with 13 completely different covers.

I’ve been calling Sam my Robin for years. He thinks he’s old enough to be Nightwing. I say, “Not while you’re still living under my roof, mister!”

Yes, he’s gotten to be Batman too…

So here are 13 COVERS celebrating the Batman and Robin partnership. I kept it to the Bronze and Silver ages this time because those are the periods closest to my heart.

Just like Sam and Wendy.

Happy birthday, kid.

  1. The cover of Batman #175 is still one of my all-time favorites. Part of the reason may be that I think it’s the first Batman comic I ever owned.
