Marvel in April will be releasing a trio of Facsimile Editions, including the latest 1984 Secret Wars and Amazing Spider-Man installments. The headliner, though is The X-Men #130, featuring Dazzler’s dramatic debut.

Dig these solicitations, which will be formally released by Marvel later in January:

The dramatic debut of the Dazzler – one of the comic-book sensations of the early 1980s! In a pivotal chapter of the unfolding Dark Phoenix Saga, Jean Grey and Scott Summers are on the hunt for a new mutant detected by Cerebro – and they find her in the form of disco diva Alison Blaire! She’s a vision in skintight silver, and her powerful singing voice is matched by light powers that are simply, well, dazzling! That surprise package comes in handy when the venue is suddenly attacked by a group of Mandroids who are eerily prepared for the power sets of Cyclops and Phoenix! Plus: The Hellfire Club’s machinations continue, but will Jean become its Black Queen?! It’s one of the all-time great Marvel comic books, boldly re-presented in its original form, ads and all! Reprinting X-MEN (1963) #130.

A few thoughts:

— I’m sure the fact Marvel’s reprinting The X-Men #130 will give more grist to the completely unconfirmed yet relentless rumor that Taylor Swift will pop up as Dazzler in July’s Deadpool 3. It also happens to be Dazzler’s 45th anniversary year.

— The exact release dates are not yet available. Foil-cover prices have also not yet been set. (Check in with your local comics shop.)

Obligatory Price Comparisons: An unslabbed, high-grade X-Men #130 recently sold on eBay for about $576. An unslabbed, high-grade Secret Wars #4 recently sold on eBay for about $27. An unslabbed, high-grade Amazing Spider-Man #255 recently sold on eBay for about $16.

  1. Taylor Swift as Dazzler??

Does that explain why she was hanging with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman last Fall for the Jets vs Chiefs game?

  2. Attaching Swift to Deadpool III, guess they really don’t want me to see that movie.

  3. Marvel came out with Dazzler two years too late. By the time they introduced Dazzler disco was pretty much dead. It made Marvel really seem out of touch. Interesting character, but just too late to the party.

  4. For those who may be wondering, and I’m surprised it wasn’t mentioned in the article: 1981’s Dazzler #1 has already been reprinted as a Facsimile Edition. As a matter of fact, it was just the third comic to be reprinted in the modern era of Facsimile Editions, which begain with Fantastic Four #1 (on sale date 8/29/18). The second was Silver Surfer #14 from 1970 (1/23/19), followed by Dazzler #1 which went on sale 2/20/19.

  5. It really hurts my heart to see how much the issues from this era are going for as I just kind of gave them all away in the mid eighties.

  6. If there’s a variant cover, it’s not a facsimile
