WHOA! SUPERMAN VS. SPIDER-MAN Treasury Facsimile to Get ALEX ROSS Variant

Oh, heck to the yeah…

QUICK NOTE: Super day of Facsimile news! Click here for another big surprise! — Dan

Some big, big news on the DC/Marvel Facsimile Edition front: Not only will there be foil and logo sketch covers for the 50th anniversary Superman vs. the Amazing Spider-Man treasury edition in January — there’ll be a special variant cover featuring the art of Alex Ross.

Get a load of this:

Several thoughts:

— That Ross homage has been circulating for years but there is no better treatment for it than this one. Unclear so far what the back cover will look like. Ross did do a version of it that featured Nicholas Hammond and Christopher Reeve years ago.

— Price? $19.99, same as the regular edition. The foil cover, featuring the original image by Carmine Infantino, Ross Andru, Neal Adams, Dick Giordano and Terry Austin, will go for $24.99. The logo cover will run $22.99.

Superman vs. Spider-Man is due Jan. 7, 2026, just five days after the anniversary. Final order cutoff is Nov. 24. (The sequel is due in February, with a January FOC.)

— In our most recent update, DC had announced only a foil variant for 1976’s Superman vs. Spider-Man. We suggested at the time that was likely to change and, boy has it. 1981’s Superman and Spider-Man is also slated to get a foil version, a logo cover — and a variant by a mystery artist. Could that also be Ross? I’ve never seen him do a take on that cover. We should know soon enough.

— This is gonna be a helluva week for DC Facsimile news. As noted above, click over here for another doozy. And here!

  1. Es curioso que en las películas Marvel han ignorado algún cameo con Hammond

  2. I’ll definitely be getting one copy of this. I do still enjoy Alex’s work and I’m very glad he’s doing something direct with DC and normal distribution. I’m done buying his super exclusive issues at $50+/per. (I say that and he could always do something that just jumps out screaming to buy.)

  4. I’d bust a gut if the “mystery artist” was Tom King.

  5. Sorry but if I want the facsimile I buy the facsimile.Changing the artist, makes it a new edition. Not a re-release.
