In just a few days, we kick off our latest Spider-Man Week, and Dakota’s here to give you another appetizer — a faux 1980s DC Who’s Who entry, starring Marvel’s web-slinger!

The art is by Dakota, though some of it was originally by Ron Frenz and Alex Saviuk that Dakota redrew. The text is adapted from the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe.
Now, you’re probably saying to yourself, “Boy, those words are pretty small! What’s the deal?!? I’d love to see it bigger!” Well, to paraphrase Doug Henning, “Size is just an illusion!” — we’ve got you covered!
In your desktop browser, simply right-click the image and choose “Open image in new tab” from the pop-up menu. Select that new tab! Now it might still look small, but if you click it, it will expand in size and you’ll get to see the Who’s Who entry all big-like! And, of course, you could always save it and open it up in your favorite image software!

Excellent idea and excellent execution! Very well chosen art, too.
Personally, and as a matter of purely personal taste, I prefer the Who’s Who style over the Marvel Handbook, as it was more expressive with art appropriate to the character, instead of the standard three views of Marvel.

Agreed! And Marvel sometimes got too technical with their descriptions of powers or equipment. But I have pleasant nostalgic memories of both series,

I think this pastiche shows why Who’s Who was vastly superior to the superficially similar Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe. Who’s Who was much better designed. It had visual style and wit that was completely lacking in OHOTMU. Which is probably why 40 years later, I find myself regularly flipping through my Who’s Who omnibus, while I rarely pull my OHOTMU omnibus off the shelf.
