V-E DAY at 80: Saluting CAPTAIN AMERICA

DESPOP TUESDAYS honors this Thursday’s official 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe…

By DES TAYLOR

This V-E Day — which celebrates its official 80th anniversary Thursday — we salute the Star-Spangled Avenger himself: Captain America!

From storming enemy bunkers to knocking out Nazis with a red, white and blue frisbee, Cap and Bucky Barnes stood tall as symbols of courage, unity, and justice during World War II.

Cap reminds us that even in the darkest times, there’s always a hero ready to throw down for what’s right.

  1. Des, I wish there was some way to get Marvel Studios to commission an animated series or one-off animated film using your designs and style. But, part of me is glad they haven’t, because I feel like they’d just mess it up. But, THANK YOU for all of your art, including your original characters. They gladden this old comic fans heart.
