TwoMorrows’ Excellent MARSHALL ROGERS Book Is Shipping NOW

An outstanding illustrated bio worthy of the late artist…

Marshall Rogers’ Batman was second to nobody’s except Neal Adams’. I have believed that for nearly 50 years and I don’t see changing my mind.

That’s why I have been so looking forward to TwoMorrows’ new illustrated biography, Marshall Rogers: Brightest Days and Darkest Knights, by Jeff Messer and Dewey Cassell.

I’ve had my copy for awhile and it’s even better than I’d hoped. Jammed with art, it’s a thorough examination of the highs and lows of an artist who died to soon, in 2007 at the age of 57. And, of course, it covers much, much more than the Darknight Detective.

Well, now you can get yours (if you haven’t managed to already). The book officially begins shipping today, July 16, through TwoMorrows. (It will be in comics shops July 23 if you want to support your LCS, as well as TwoMorrows’ new deal with Lunar Distribution.)

I, for one, am honored to be a part of this project. During the pandemic, we published at 13th Dimension my 10-part, in-depth interview with writer Steve Englehart in which we broke down each issue of his and Rogers’ magnificent and deeply influential 1977 Detective Comics run. That interview is printed in the book in its entirety, comprising Chapter 7.

You can check out a massive preview of Marshall Rogers: Brightest Days and Darkest Knights here. The 160-page, oversize, full-color hardcover lists for $37.95 and is worth every damn penny.

  1. My copy came last Saturday. It’s a beautiful book in its presentation. Can’t wait to dive deeper into the various articles. Now if only DC would publish his newspaper run and unfinished BATMAN work!

  7. So very good. I received mine a few weeks ago and read it cover to cover. TwoMorrows is the best. I sometimes feel that I am personally keeping them in business… 😉

    • They are so good I’d like to think they are very deep in sales. But, I agree. If you are a fan of the Gold, Silver and Bronze Age, you must buy their books! The history is fantastic. I imagine the profit margin is slim so buy many editions. They make great gifts too!
