Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez’s DC Comics Style Guide is in the running…
It’s the final week to vote for the 2025 Eisner Awards, so if you haven’t done it, now’s the time!
We’re particularly partial to Standards Manual’s DC Comics Style Guide, featuring the gorgeous art of Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez, inked by Dick Giordano. The hardcover, which fans had wanted as a commercial release since the early 1980s, has been nominated in the Best Archival Collection/Project – Comic Books category. (It was published under a DC license, natch.)
The competition is fierce, so if you want this book to get its kudos, act now. Eisner voting closes Thursday, June 5, and you have to be vetted to be included. So click here for all the details.
Being 100 percent transparent, I do have a horse in this race. I was a technical adviser and the writer of the book’s interview with Garcia-Lopez and former DC marketing exec Mary Yedlin. (You can read it in full here.) But don’t hold that against me! Vote for the book because it’s a fantastic historical artifact.
As JLGL himself put it: “It’s an edition so well done, and presented to the reader in such a magnificent way, that it really deserves this recognition.”
The Eisner Awards are July 25 at San Diego Comic-Con.
