Tim Sale’s DARK VICTORY: A Birthday Celebration in 13 COVERS

A gorgeous gallery saluting the (superior) sequel to The Long Halloween…

Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale’s The Long Halloween gets all the buzz. I get it. It’s first rate. But if you ask me (and you didn’t), I liked its sequel, 1999-2000’s Dark Victory even better.

It goes over a lot of the same ground as its predecessor but what kicks it up a notch is that it really works as a modern Robin origin story. I’d even argue that, to date, it’s the best of its kind. So, with the late Tim Sale’s birthday here — he was born 68 years ago, on May 1, 1956 — here are the series’ 13 COVERS (with a bonus, Wizard-published #0 issue thrown in for completists’ sake).

Right on.

  1. Really love all of these. I always think of Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now when I see the ‘Fools’ cover.
