The Most Romantic ARCHIE AND BETTY Story I’ve Ever Read

And Valentine’s Day has passed!

Y’know, I really enjoy publishing previews of Archie Comics’ digests. There’s almost always something new and fun, but the sweetness lies in the timeless, vintage stories that fill out these editions. One such story knocked me out when I read it — a nearly silent, 50-year-old piece called “Parting Ways,” by Frank Doyle, Dan DeCarlo, Rudy Lapick and Bill Yoshida, from July 1974’s Betty and Me #60.

It’s included in March 6’s Betty and Veronica Jumbo Comics Digest #322, which also features two new tales, including one starring Sabrina and one starring B & V and Fran Frazer.

So, here is “Parting Ways” — the most romantic Archie and Betty story I’ve ever read — followed by a preview of the Sabrina story and the issue’s official description:

BETTY AND VERONICA JUMBO COMICS DIGEST #322

TWO BRAND NEW STORIES! First, someone has stolen a copy of Ms. Grundy’s semester final and it’s up to crime podcast host Fran Frazer—along with Betty & Veronica—to find out who took it and why. Then, after ice skating with the gang, Sabrina shares some hot cocoa her aunts made for her with everyone—little does she know it’s actually a potion to help her skate better! What happens when magic ends up in the wrong hands (or, in this case, feet!)?
