It’s Episode 7 of The World’s Greatest Super Friends Podcast!

John S. Drew and I are up to the seventh episode of the first season over at The World’s Greatest Super Friends Podcast — and this one’s a corker.
While I won’t give much away, I will say this:
— The episode, Too Hot to Handle, is the best Super Friends episode of the season so far.
— The Flash makes his Super Friends debut — and it’s a kick.
Check out John’s description:

Earth’s temperatures are rising, causing catastrophes that the Super Friends must respond to all the while being observed by a strange little man in a fur coat. The only way to stop it is to enlist the aid of the Flash, but even then, things escalate to the point that the Super Friends must travel to a distant world to save another world from destruction.
For John and Dan Greenfield of 13th Dimension this episode stands out as the best of the first season. There is much to praise — from the writing, to the animation, to the limited use of Wendy and Marvin, to the early warning message of global warming. In addition, the two discuss the Flash vs. Superman, how to pronounce “robot,” and how to obtain a Mego action figure with no money and no physical material.

I feel most definitely convinced to listen to “The World’s Greatest Super Friends” podcast. 🙂

I agree with the assessment that “Too Hot to Handle”, and “Gulliver’s Giant Goof”- co-starring the Flash, and the Green Arrow, respectively- were the two episodes of the first season of “The Super Friends” which felt the most like two issues of it’s source material, the ‘Justice League of America’ comic-book series, in spite of the presences of the insufferable ‘Scooby-Gang’- Wendy, Marvin, and Wonder Dog, in that these two episodes presented very serious, actual threats to the survival of the Planet Earth- certain sequences, such as the Super Friends’ struggles against the- let’s face it- bone-faced evil Dr. Gulliver, and his ( unfortunately ) equally-evil cat, as well as Superman’s battle with the alien-stationed satellite, which was drawing the Earth into the Sun, as well as the Flash’s dramatic, exciting trips around the world with the copper cable wrapped around him, delivered the goods, like no other first-season episode of “The Super Friends” could manage! My only complaint about the first season ( besides the ‘Scooby-Gang’ ) is the absence of my main ( DC ) man, the Green Lantern, as well as an appearance or two from some of the JLA’s other luscious super-ladies, such as Zatanna, the Black Canary, Hawkgirl, and- why not?? Supergirl! Just sayin!
