Hey, you picked up June’s Mad #44, didn’t you? Y’know, the Superman special with a cover and new gag by our pal, Kerry?
Well, turns out Kerry also had a strip that didn’t make the cut. It happens. But lucky for you, we’re debuting it right here on the first day of SUPERMAN WEEK!
“To help celebrate SUPERMAN WEEK here at 13th Dimension, I’ve taken an idea that Mad rejected and finished it as a “Super Antics,” just for fun!” Kerry sez. “Too sexy? I dunno. Society is weird. Or, maybe it’s just not funny. Humor is SO subjective. (By the way, PLEASE don’t criticize Mad’s decision. I consider them friends. There’s a lot of thought that goes into every issue. It’s a tough job!)
Worth noting: If you showed up today assuming you’d find PART 6 of Kerry’s What WAS the Comic Battle of the 20th Century? — featuring 1976’s SUPERMAN vs. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN — we’ll be running that next Sunday, kind of as an epilogue to SUPERMAN WEEK!

Love the cartoon, Kerry! Even as it is giving me all sorts of odd and disturbing associations, like how it’s an inverted variant of all those classic X-ray specs ads in comics of yore, or that Clark is in the closet without being “in the closet” (ignoring his later son, Jonathan) and as making me recall Larry Niven’s famous, if notorious, article “Man of Steel: Woman of Kleenex” (which I understand, though I’ve never seen it, Curt Swan illustrated for Penthouse Comix in the 90s–perhaps his revenge for being kicked off the Superman title with the Post-Crisis revamping?).
At least you are giving the ghost of Frederic Wertham deserved spasmodic fits.

LOL!!! Back in the ’70s the comics would simply show Clark and Lois going into his apartment and shutting the door!

NIce touch, Kerry, with Clark’s eyes turned red, ready to use his heat vision to fry Jimmy to a crisp.
