STEVE DITKO AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Artist’s Edition Coming in 2026

Thanks to Scott Dunbier’s Act 4…

Scott Dunbier announced two new projects Friday at San Diego Comic-Con that are absolutely extraordinary: The Amazing Spider-Man by Steve Ditko Artist’s Edition and George Perez’s New Teen Titans Artist’s Edition.

That is amazing and titanic.

Click here for more on the Perez Titans book, but here’s what you need to know about the Ditko Spider-Man book — so far:

It will include four complete stories featuring Ditko’s original art — Amazing Fantasy #15, The Amazing Spider-Man #20, #26 — and perhaps his greatest work, Issue #33. There will also be an assortment of covers and other material — including a never-published illo contributed by legendary comics chronicler Maggie Thompson.

The book — which replicates the illustrator’s original art at its “twice up” size — is due in 2026. It will measure a massive 15″ x 22″. It’ll be about 176 pages but the final count, price and release date have yet to be determined.

Dig this SNEAK PEEK, from slides shown at SDCC. The final image is Thompson’s piece, which had never been shown publicly until the panel:

A few thoughts:

— I don’t think any of us ever really thought we’d see this. Dunbier managed to pull together four complete Ditko stories and that’s, well… amazing. (I know I already said that. Sue me.)

— I know what you’re thinking: Does Ditko’s family approve? Yes. Mark Ditko, the illustrator’s nephew and chief keeper of the flame, was on hand for the announcement.

— This is just a quick-hit story. Come back to 13th Dimension for much more in the weeks and months ahead.

  1. I was pretty sure after the recent Adams’ and soon to release this fall Aparo edition that I wouldn’t need any others. Was I so wrong. This looks fantastic. Wow.

  2. This is what I thought the “Ditko Is Amazing” book that Marvel published in 2019 was going to be. That was a disappointment. Maybe I’ll sell it after I get this book, if it’s affordable.
