SNEAK PEEK: Inside the MERRY MARVEL MARCHING SOCIETY Album Coming for BLACK FRIDAY

An exclusive release for the Record Store Day offshoot…

You might know that Disney’s been releasing a series of vinyl singles featuring music from the 1960s Marvel Super Heroes cartoon series, along with the Marvel Marching Society. And you might know that Disney has been planning a special 2024 Record Store Day-Black Friday album that collects all the audio from the releases.

The Iron Man single

Well dig this SNEAK PEEK at the LP, including the track listing, according to the Record Store Day website:

1. Merry Marvel Marching Society

2. Marvel Superheroes Have Arrived

3. Captain America Theme

4. Iron Man Theme

5. Mighty Thor Theme

6. Incredible Hulk Theme

7. Sub-Mariner Theme

6,000 pressings are planned for the exclusive RSD-Black Friday release. A price has not been announced yet, but stores evidently can also mark up such albums by a certain percentage. Click here for more info.

Thanks to 13th Dimension reader Jim Zeta Jones for the heads up.

  1. What a surprise! I never ever expected that a vinyl album would be released of music from the 1966 “Marvel Super Heroes” TV Show. The theme songs were great and after all these years I can still remember them. As a kid I watched it broadcast in syndication on WOR-TV, Channel 9 in New York weekdays in the afternoons. If I remember correctly, Mondays was Captain America, Tuesdays was The Hulk, Wednesdays was Iron Man, Thursdays was Thor and Fridays was Sub-Mariner. I loved that show despite the limited rough animation – which I feel gave it it’s charm. The episodes were straight from the comic books as if they came to life. Perhaps, Disney will finally release an official DVD or Blu-Ray set of the show. I sure hope so.

    • I doubt the lawyers could clean up the red tape so they could re-release these. My understanding is that artist/creators were completely forgotten when it came time to make the broadcast deals. I wish they could. Would love to see these all again.

  3. I know that records are the hip, cool thing right now, but I really wish they’d offer a CD version as well. I’d snap that up in a heartbeat!

    “Ain’t he unglamo-rays!”

  5. I wonder how many visitors to this site lived in the Pittsburgh area as kids and remember WPGH’s afternoon superhero lineup for a year, which included Iron Man and Spider-Man on Mondays, The Hulk and Batman (both episodes of Batman ’67 and the first Filmation series) on Tuesdays, Aquaman and Ultraman on Wednesdays, Captain America and Sub-mariner on Thursdays, and Superman (Filmation’s) and Thor on Fridays. The year prior to that, they had a superhero block that included Speed Racer, Ultraman, Spider-Man, Batman and Superman (starring George Reeves), which I have to admit I preferred to the different lineups each day.

  6. Will they be available on CD. LP is nice, but CD has no rice krispies…
