SNEAK PEEK: At Least Four SUPERGIRL-Related FACSIMILE EDITIONS Coming Soon

The Summer of Supergirl puts the Maid of Might in the spotlight…

Like last year’s Summer of Superman, DC in 2026 is bringing us Summer of Supergirl — a line of comics and books that will not only capture the attention of readers but hype the new movie starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El.

Among the groovy items will be a quartet of Facsimile Editions — two we’ve gotten and two we haven’t.

For Supergirl Day on April 18 — taking the place of the annual Superman Day this year — there are are special Facsimile Editions of 1959’s Action Comics #252 (Supergirl’s first appearance) and 1938’s Action Comics #1 (Superman’s debut, natch), each priced at $3.99.

Not just that, there will be at least two other Supergirl-related Facsimile Editions in the months ahead: Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes #23 and Lobo #1. There will also be a new, Artist’s Edition-size DC W.I.P.: Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #1, and more.

Several thoughts:

— For those keeping score, an Action Comics #252 Facsimile Edition was just released in the fall, and Action #1 is becoming a perennial release.

Supergirl and the Legion and Lobo are set for June, but the exact dates haven’t been revealed yet. There will be main, foil and logo sketch covers, though it’s not yet clear which Lobo series will be represented.

— Lobo is played by Jason Momoa in Supergirl, so I get that. But I’m intrigued by the inclusion of 2006’s Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes #23. The Legion is on the docket for a DC revival, but who knows whether that also ties in to the flick, which is scheduled for an official June 26, 2026, release.

— Will these be the only Supergirl Facsimiles this year? Hope not.

  1. I am surprised they do not plan to do a facsimile of Action Comics #285 which revealed Supergirl’s existence to the world.

      • Fingers crossed!

    • Yes, #285 would be a great one, and it seems like a fit. Less likely would be #276, great cover aperarance and a Legion of Super-Heroes appearance to boot. There are also options like #334 or #360, 80-page giants with all Supergirl stories. I have them, but would love some crisp copies in mint condition, and copies that I wouldn’t mind handling.

  2. Man. I’m losing track of which facsimiles are first run and which are reprints.

    • Same. Have to consult my Have List before I order any.

  3. FFS the Action Comics #252 Facsimile was just released 4 MONTHS ago, while Action #1 had one in 2022 as well just under a year ago! Can’t DC mix it up just the tiniest bit?

  4. Supergirl and the Legion of Super Heroes 23 has a notoriously expensive variant cover by Adam Hughes, so maybe that’s what the facsimile will be.
