WINGSPAN EDITION: Comics’ version of a one-take movie…

The best ongoing comic I’ve read in the last five years was Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo’s run on Nightwing, the definitive version of adult Dick Grayson to date.
Not only did the series feature spot-on characterization, zippy dialogue and no shortage of humor, it also had marvelous art, which at times was downright innovative.
Take 2021’s Nightwing #87, which was constructed as if it were a single-take film. In other words, the story is told in one complete panel, with the action moving throughout.

Thing is, when published in standard comic form, you still have page turns that pause the action.
But now, DC is republishing the issue in a special hardover “Wingspan Edition” that will fold out, accordion-style, to an astonishing 159 inches — or 13.25 feet — wide.
