Twenty figures in total are anticipated through 2025…
Mego on Thursday night announced that its long-anticipated line of Marvel superheroes will be hitting in December — at Disney stores, theme parks and, yes, online.
Not just that, the company also announced that it obtained the license to produce characters from the short-lived, cult-favorite 1970s comics company Atlas Comics, which opened for business 50 years ago.
You can read more about the Atlas deal here but here’s Mego Museum Maven Brian Heiler with the Marvel lowdown, which is also detailed in a YouTube video he posted Thursday night:
“Mego revealed that the upcoming Marvel waves will be exclusive to Disney stores, theme parks, and the Disney website,” Brian said. “Each series will consist of four Megos in their classic window boxes. Wave 1 of the Marvel line is expected to ship in December 2024, and four waves are scheduled for 2025, bringing a total of 20 Marvel Mego figures in the coming months. Disney will reveal characters in the coming weeks.”
The figures will be sold in 4-packs, Mego’s Marty Abrams said in the video.
It is about time. Twenty figures. Wow. And there certainly seems to be a chance that the initial figs will arrive in time for the holidays.
No word on Mego’s regular Wave 19, which largely features DC characters. It wouldn’t surprise me if they came in 2025, so that the runway is clear for the Marvel and Atlas lines. But that’s just my conjecture.
Make sure you keep tabs here at 13th Dimension and at the Mego Museum.
