Six decades of Tigers and jackpots…

Between now and August, expect a lot of references to “Face it, Tiger… you just hit the jackpot!” because this summer is Mary Jane Watson’s 60th anniversary and Marvel is planning a groovy celebration with a special one-shot and a line of MJ variant covers.
Mary Jane: Face It, Tiger #1 will feature the talents of J.M. DeMatteis, Ann Nocenti, J. Michael Staczynski, Ashley Allen, Phil Noto, Alina Erofeeva, Andrea Broccardo and Luigi Zagaria, among others.

Main cover by Cheung
The ish, with a main cover by Jim Cheung and a variant by David Nakayama, features “all-new stories spanning her most iconic eras, plus a glimpse at what’s next for the inimitable Mary Jane,” sez Marvel. (The Nakayama cover will also be available as a virgin variant.)

Nakayama variant
The broader line of variant covers, which have yet to be revealed, will run across a variety of Marvel titles.
My hope is that we’ll see a Facsimile Edition of The Amazing Spider-Man #42, in which Stan Lee and John Romita introduced Mary Jane with one of the most memorable entrances in comics history.

The issue came out Aug. 9, 1966. Mary Jane: Face It, Tiger #1 is due August 5.
We’ll also be giving Mary Jane her due here at 13th Dimension, but more on that down the road.

Maybe one of these decades Marvel will finally undo the damage of “One More Day”?
Until then, I’m apathetic to characters and a story that I once absolutely loved. Peter and Mary Jane deserve better.

Always prefered Gwen to Mary Jane- Peter should have married Gwen if Gerry Conway hadn’t murdered her!

When I saw the thumbnail photo for the linked article I thought we were getting a Spider-Man facsimile edition. Bummer. Nothing for this collector to buy here.
