One of the big ones is 1956’s Showcase #4, which simultaneously introduced the Barry Allen Flash and launched the Silver Age of Comics. It’s also one of the most-requested Facsimiles among readers.

Buncha thoughts:
— Any time we do a story in the vein of 13 DC COMICS FACSIMILE EDITIONS WE’D LIKE TO SEE, Showcase #4 comes up. It’s also one I often forget hasn’t been released because it’s something of a stunner that it took until now to get it done.
— Then again, it’s tough to tell how far out DC plans the Facsimile Edition schedule. It’s something the publisher keeps close to the vest.
— As I mentioned, there are four other DC Facsimile Editions in July that are worth your attention. Links below!
— Actually there are a total of seven DC or DC-related FEs coming that month, when you include the previously announced Avengers/JLA #2, which was delayed from June and is due July 1, and Marvel’s JLA/Avengers #3, due July 22.
— Obligatory Price Comparison: The chances of finding an unslabbed, original Showcase #4 are slim and none and slim left town. Actually, that’s not entirely true: a coverless copy that was restored and given a repro cover sold on eBay for $2,900. On the other hand, a slabbed, 9.6-graded original sold through Heritage Auctions in 2024 for $900,000, including buyer’s premium.

Another perfect book to share with youngsters. I still remember reading the origin story on a back porch steps in Secret Origins. Now please DC release Flash 135 that you were supposed to release as a dollar comics in 2020 when Covid changed everything.
