NYC’s first ever LGBT comic convention is this Saturday, June 13th at Grand Prospect Hall in Brooklyn.
Launched with $19,000 Kickstarter campaign, the fledgling fest has attracted some top comics talent such as Phil Jimenez (Wonder Woman, Infinite Crisis, New X-Men and The Invisibles), James Tynon (Writer of Batman Eternal, The Woods, and Memetic) , and Steve Orlando (MIDNIGHTER, launching in June from DC Comics, and UNDERTOW at Image Comics. He’s written for the Eisner-Nominated OUTLAW TERRITORY, MYSTERY IN SPACE and CMYK: YELLOW at Vertigo).
The show features many other artists, panels and events all day. There’s Portfolio Reviews With Marvel Editor Dan Ketchum, music performances, screenings, and a cosplay pageant. Flame Con also has high profile sponsors Atari and MailChimp.com, which is a big score for a first time con.
