Landmark JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #21 to Be Re-Released as Facsimile Edition

EXCLUSIVE: The first JLA-JSA team-up!

Well, I expect fans will snap this one up: DC Comics in November is releasing 1963’s landmark Justice League of America #21 — one of comics’ most important issues — as a Facsimile Edition.

Dig the solicitation info, which will be released formally by DC later Friday:

JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #21 FACSIMILE EDITION

Written by GARDNER FOX
Art and cover by MIKE SEKOWSKY
Foil variant cover by MIKE SEKOWSKY ($6.99 US)
$3.99 US | 36 pages
ON SALE 11/12/25

“Crisis on Earth-One!” Witness history in the making as the Justice League of America teams up with the legendary Justice Society of America for the very first time! The two titanic teams will need all the muscle they can muster to take down the combined criminal cohorts of two Earths—the Crime Champions!

Several thoughts:

— It’s quality over quantity this month for DC’s Facsimiles. There are only two — the other one can be found here — but they’re biggies. Both made our 13 FACSIMILE EDITIONS WE’RE SURPRISED DC COMICS HASN’T PUBLISHED YET — RANKED list.

— No sketch cover is listed but that’s not uncommon. I imagine there will be one.

— I actually have an original of this issue but I don’t like opening the bag for fear I’ll mess it up. (I’ll do it, but it makes me noyvous.) So, getting a Facsimile Edition is a real treat.

— This is the first part of a two-parter. Fingers crossed that Justice League of America #22 is coming in December.

Obligatory Price Comparison: A nice, unslabbed original JLA #21 recently sold on eBay for about $255. That’s actually lower than I would have thought.

  1. I saw the heading in the email saying 121 and I was thinking “Adam Strange’s wedding?”

    • Yeah, this puzzled me too. Apart from Adam Strange’s marriage to Alanna, if there was landmark issue of JLA in 1975, it would be two issues later, with # 123, with the annual JLA / JSA crossover, where the former (the JLA) are tricked into killing the latter (the JSA)–by that malevolent and villainous comix writer, Cary Bates.

Of course, the first meeting of the JLA and JSA is certainly more landmark-y.

  2. Famous issue #121s:

I guess there’s this and Amazing Spider-Man. Any others?

  3. Hard to believe, I had this, and most of the JLA early issues. And then, my mom needed the space,so something had to go. Guess what went?

  4. Well this is great news, I’ll be buying 100 copies to be given out for Halloween, although it will not be until 2026 since the book will ship in November. I can’t wait to share this issue with all the trick or treaters that come to our Comics or Candy event. Hopefully they’ll experience the same sense of life changing magic I had when I first eagerly grabbed issue 21 off a Woolworth’s comic rack. JLA 21 led to a life long love of the JSA that has included multiple commissions and purchases of original art featuring my favorite heroes. Hopefully Dan is right and DC will issue a facsimile of JLA 22 soon, since I would hate for kids to be left hanging after reading the first of a two part epic.
