— I genuinely don’t care where the idea came from first, I just love Jack Kirby having the time of his life in a world very much like Planet of the Apes.
— I actually had to look this one up because I could have sworn we’d gotten this Facsimile already. I’m surprised we haven’t.

Meanwhile, not a Facsimile, but we did get a reprint of it in the Kamandi Challenge Special back in 2017.

This is great, but I sorta wish they’d do it as a tablid-sized reprint.
Of course, I sorta wish they’d do a lot of stuff in that format.

Who had the idea first…? Kirby did a sci-fi story in the 1950s’ where a guy travels to the future and encounters civilized, talking animals. This was “The Last Enemy” which came out in 1957- Harvey Comics’ Alarming Tales #1. The novel that POTA is based on came out in 1963. The King comes out ahead.

I REALLY wish they’d do a trade paperback of post-Kirby Kamandi to finish out the series collected editions…I love the Kirby issues of course, but the series was still great after he left it (especially #48-59), and the art on those Dick Ayers issues is beautiful!
