Oh, boy!

Hey, this will be a quick one because there’s not much info yet, but the great Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez will be getting his own Artist’s Edition from IDW.

Here’s what Scott Dunbier, maestro of all things Artist’s Edition, posted on Facebook:

“A superb artist and a true gentleman. Spent the day before Baltimore Comic-Con adding to my collection of art scans by the incomparable Jose Luis García-López, from his personal archives and that of his good friend Fred. It’ll be a while but an Artist’s Edition is coming.”

Now, remember IDW and DC recently sealed a deal to get the latter more involved in the Artist’s Edition line. Neal Adams and David Mazzucchelli’s Batman: Year One art will be at the vanguard in 2024.

Scott ain’t saying any more than this but I dig the implication that some of JLGL’s original style-guide art will be included. Here’s that piece on the upper right close up:

Man, I still don’t get why DC won’t print those style guides straight up.

Anyway, no idea when this will hit but I can tell you this: I’ll be the first in line to order one when the time comes.

I fear they will be super expensive. Inflation aside, these full size reprints are never cheap. But I so want this.
