JIM APARO’S DC CLASSICS ARTIST’S EDITION Is Delayed Into December

Fingers crossed for Santa!

One of the most awaited books of the year is gonna make you wait a little bit longer: Act 4’s Jim Aparo’s DC Classics Artist’s Edition has moved to December.

The 216-page, 12″ x 17″ hardcover — which lists for $150 — was originally scheduled for September, then moved to November. Now, it’s listed at Image Comics’ website (it’s being distributed through Robert Kirkman’s Skybound) for Dec. 17. Lunar Distribution has it for the same day.

Main cover

Other sites still have it for November, but Act 4’s Scott Dunbier confirmed the delay.

  1. I pre-ordered the Batman #284 variant from Indiana-based DCBS. Starting to Wonder if I’ll ever see it

  2. I contributed a piece to this, and I can’t wait to see it! Jim Aparo is one of the all time greats and anything that honors him is long overdue.

  3. I’ve a spot on a shelf where this will stand. It will be bookend to Neal Adams’ Edition. Really hoping this releases before Xmas so I can enjoy it over the break. I only have 1 other edition in this size (Michael Golden); the cost is prohibitive. That said, Jim’s pencils deserves to be seen in full size. I’m also eyeing the 2 recently announced for release next year for Ditko and Perez.

  4. F*ck. I knew it. And I literally just checked my door to see if it arrived. This is the 2nd delay & now it’s supposed to come out the day before I take a one month vacation (I contributed the 3 page Aqualad story from Teen Titans #36 & am supposed to get a comp copy). Knew it. It’ll probably be left on my doorstep & will be rained on for a month before I get back. Thanks, f*ckers!

    • Wow. You own 3 pages of original Aparo artwork? How fortunate are you!

      • Yes! More than that, I got a few Teen Titans pages of Brave & the Bold #102–the very first issue of that title I ever bought so it had sentimental value–where Batman teams up with them. Got that off the Artists Choice website in late ’04 I think & even had Jim Aparo sign it to me in early ’05, the last year he was alive. Wonder how much they’re worth these days.
