HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

There’s this little book about this little movie …

Jennifer King, owner, Space Cadets Collection Collection, Oak Ridge, Texas

Star Wars Artifact Edition, IDW/Marvel. Of all of the Star Wars collectibles out there, this is the one to be most excited about. This amazing hardcover book includes scans of the original pages. This is a great opportunity to see all of the blue pencils, editorial notes and paste-overs printed in the same scale as the original art. It’s expensive at $116, but worth the investment, especially for fans of Howard Chaykin, Walter Simonson and Michael Golden.

Batman ’66 Meets the Man From U.N.C.L.E. #1, DC Comics. This seems like a reach to me, but I love both of the TV shows, so I’ve got my fingers crossed.

Star Wars Artifact Edition, IDW/Marvel. Original Howard Chaykin art of the greatest movie of my childhood? Oh, I think so.

Rocketeer at War #1, IDW Publishing. This first look at Cliff Secord’s wartime adventures feels the most like original Dave Stevens Rocketeer than anything we’ve seen yet. Highly recommended.

Aquaman #47, DC Comics. Not everyone loves writer Cullen Bunn’s Aquaman, so he quit the book pretty much out of the gate. I’ve liked it just fine. Anyway, the book will be, shall we say, treading water for a couple months. I’ll still be reading it.

Alias Vol. 2 TPB, Marvel. It’s been out for awhile but I’m picking it anyway because my wife Wendy just finished the first volume and we need the next one. I figure there are a lot of readers just discovering this book because of Jessica Jones and whatnot, so I’m just putting in this reminder …

Patsy Walker AKA Hellcat #1, Marvel. Speaking of Jessica Jones, Comic Book Patsy gets her own book starting this week, and it has that buzzy quality that could make it a cult hit.
