HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

The Deadman #1, DC. W. Maxwell Prince and Martin Morazzo’s recently completed The Kryptonite Spectrum was the best Superman story I’ve read in years. Will they have the same magic with Deadman? I’m willing to bet on it.

Batman #10, DC. There is something about a red-on-black Batman logo.

Plus, check out Ryan Sook’s excellent variant:

Batman Vol. 1: Daylight, DC. Collects the first six issues of the Fraction/Jimenez run, available in both hardcover and trade paperback. I’ve been thinking of going back and reading these in one sitting.

Fantastic Four #13, Marvel. Including the first variant promoting Alex Ross’ Marvel Dimensions, coming in September from Abrams ComicArts. (The right side is the front, the left side the back.)

Scott Tipton, contributor-at-large, 13th Dimension

The Amazing Spider-Man Epic Collection: Nothing Can Stop the Juggernaut, Marvel. Collecting Roger Stern and John Romita Jr.’s landmark Spidey run, including Webhead’s legendary faceoff with the Juggernaut!

Superman Adventures Compendium Two, DC. Mark Millar and Aluir Alancio produced some wonderful Superman tales set in the world of Superman: The Animated Series; it’s great to see them get this kind of collection.

Spider-Man Noir: The Gwen Stacy Affair, Marvel. Enjoying Nic Cage’s new Spider-Noir show? Marvel’s got you covered with this collection of the recent comics miniseries.

  1. In response to “There is something about a red-on-black Batman logo.” Black with red has always been my favorite color combo. I never gave the reason for it a lot of thought. One day, I was watching Batman 66 and it hit me. The Batmobile is black with red trim. I’m sure that subconsciously caused by fondness for the red and black combo. It all comes back to Batman, my friends.
