HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

Oh, hey, guess what! This is the 600th installment of our weekly HOT PICKS! 600! Wow! Let’s get on with it, shall we?

Batman and Robin #30, DC. With writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson moving on to Marvel, this appears to be the last issue of the series. Will it continue with a new creative team in a few months? Get rebooted? Disappear? No idea.

Action Comics #1095, DC. Pete Ross knows Clark is Superboy. Clark doesn’t know Pete knows. What happens now?

Superman #423 Facsimile Edition, DC. The first part of Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? Thing is, DC doesn’t seem to be releasing the second half, so Action Comics #583 is among the 13 DC FACSIMILE EDITIONS WE’D LIKE TO SEE — 2026 EDITION.

Scott adds: Alan Moore, Curt Swan and George Perez’s Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? has to be in the conversation for best Superman story ever, right?

The Punisher Facsimile Edition #1, Marvel. Similarly, if you’re going to reprint the first issue of a four-issue miniseries, why not just do them all?

Scott Tipton, contributor-at-large, 13th Dimension

Black Cat #7, Marvel. Another great Adam Hughes cover.

Star Wars: Jar Jar #1, Marvel. I don’t care what anyone says, I’m buyin’ it.

  1. Superman #423 is going to be *painful* to get to the last page and not have part 2 coming.

And if Man of Steel #2-6 aren’t run for the rest of this year, I’ll be sad.

  2. I’m not a Jar Jar hater, but publishing a Jar-Jar-specific comic is a bold choice.
