Death of Superman: Absolute Edition, DC. The book-market packaging looks great but the direct-market version (right) is off the charts. A high point for collectors of this particular Superman era, or fans of historic comic-book stories.

New Gods #1 Facsimile Edition, DC. Kinda surprised it took this long. With requisite foil and logo sketch covers.

Action Comics #1094, DC. Mark Waid is doing something interesting with these Clark-as-Superboy stories. I wouldn’t quite call it a deconstruction, but he’s taking the approach of “What if there were a Superboy today? What would really happen?” In this issue, the Boy of Steel is basically conscripted by Gen. Sam Lane. The run has been deftly handled and is worth your time.

Batman and Robin #29, DC. Solid storytelling but the Quiet Man character is the best part.

Archie’s Valentine’s Spectacular, Archie. The latest theme one-shot, with a new story riffing on KPop Demon Hunters, plus a Dan DeCarlo/Alison Flood retro variant.

Justice League of America: The Nail — The Complete Deluxe Edition, DC Comics. An underrated classic by Alan Davis that should always remain in print.

Dan adds: Guess what — I have never read this. Guess what — this very edition (an earlier printing) has been on my Read This Soon stack for some time. I’ll get to it. I promise.

The Avengers #34 (aka The Avengers #800), Marvel. I’m in for this anniversary issue just for the wraparound cover by Russell Dauterman.

Dan adds: With a Leonardo Romero Silver Age homage cover originally slated for the cancelled Mighty Marvel Masterworks book line. There’s also a similarly waylaid Doctor Strange variant cover this week, for Issue #2.

X-Men Epic Collection: Lifedeath, Marvel. The X-Men stories of my youth, now conveniently collected. I distinctly remember picking up this comic at the Quik Stop near my house.
