HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Scott Tipton, contributor-at-large, 13th Dimension

Justice League Unlimited Vol. 1: Into the Inferno, DC. Here’s your chance to catch up on one of DC’s best monthly books nowadays. (Available in both hardcover and paperback.)

DC Finest: Justice League of America — The Return, DC. The Justice League Detroit years!

Cheetah & Cheshire Rob the Justice League #1, DC. This looks like a fun diversion, and I’m a big fan of the talents involved (Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott).

Fantastic Four Epic Collection: The Possession of Franklin Richards, Marvel. Just in time for new FF fans fresh from the theater, this volume features both Franklin-centric tales and an appearance by HERBIE the robot!

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

The Avengers: The Veracity Trap, Abrams ComicArts. By Chip Kidd and Michael Cho, it’s this year’s top retro Marvel book. Click here for a snazzy SNEAK PEEK.

Betty & Veronica Summer Fun in the Sun, Archie. A 30-page one-shot with a new story and a bunch of groovy reprints. Don’t you think that B&V illo on the top right would make a great flip-book cartoon?

Detective Comics #880 Facsimile Edition, DC. This issue is pretty expensive on the secondary market so if you love this Jock cover, this is a great way to grab it at a cheap price.

There’s also a Super Powers variant, in addition to the foil and sketch covers:

Captain America #2, Marvel. Dig Mark Buckingham’s variant cover homage to Jack Kirby and Neal Adams.

The Uncanny X-Men #19, Marvel. Marvel’s got their new 1976 Mighty Marvel Bicentennial Calendar variant covers out. This week, there’s one by Marcus To homaging Frank Robbins’ “January” art…

… and one featuring Robbins’ art itself:

(The reprint of the calendar was released recently too.)

Author: Dan Greenfield

  1. If I thought what I would find between the pages would match that cover, I would so pick up that Captain America issue. That is some true old school there. However, I don’t get the Adams’ reference.

  2. Anyone know what made Detective Comics #880 such a pricey grab?

I know it’s Dick Grayson as Batman and Jim Gordon’s murderous son in the mix along with Joker.
