HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

More Fun Comics #70 Facsimile Edition, DC. First Aquaman. First Green Arrow. First Speedy. Plus Dr. Fate, Johnny Quick and Spectre stories. That is more fun! With foil- and sketch-cover versions.

Batman/Superman: World’s Finest 2025 Annual #1, DC. Annuals get silly numbering these days. Used to be that the numbers carried over from year to year. Now, they just put the year in the title — which makes more sense — but they also give it the #1 designation. I get why they do that, but it’s not like we’re gonna get an Annual #2 this year. I mean, then it wouldn’t be an annual.

Batman and Robin Vol. 2: Batman vs. Robin, DC. This is the good stuff. A new edition of the softcover collecting Issues #7-12. Some of the best Batman of the last 25 years.

Batman: The Long Halloween — The Last Halloween #7, DC. I think this my favorite cover of the series so far. Interiors this time around by Dave Johnson, whose work I like very much.

Marvel May 1965 Omnibus, Marvel. This year’s version celebrates the 60th anniversary of Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD and Namor getting his solo series in Tales to Astonish. So, like the similar volumes before it, this includes everything Marvel put out that month. There’s also a Kirby cover, if you like.

Scott Tipton, contributor-at-large, 13th Dimension

The Amazing Spider-Man Modern Era Epic Collection: Coming Home, Marvel. J. Michael Stracyzski’s Spider-Man run was very good, especially in the beginning. Check this out if you missed it.

Fantastic Four vs. Galactus, Marvel. Just in time for their MCU debut, Marvel is offering this FF collection featuring the best Galactus tales, by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and John Byrne.

Wolverine and Kitty Pryde #1, Marvel. Chris Claremont is back with a sequel to his fan-favorite 1984 miniseries!

Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1, Marvel. Look, I’m a big believer in the “Spider-Man can beat anyone” theory, but come on. This comic should be two panels and a “SQUISH” sound effect.

Dan adds: Gotta go with the Jerry Ordway Bronze Age Marvel Godzilla homage variant.

  1. Hi Dan,

Apologies for being off-topic. But when shall we learn of our various Batman artists to the new Batman’s Hotline from several days back?

    • I believe one reader was given a grade of 100%. To bring things back to topic of the page, I wish this was the FF we were getting this summer. That’s a great cover!

  2. Long Halloween seems to be getting lost in the avalanche of Batman titles.
