HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Scott Tipton, columnist, 13th Dimension

The Avengers #23, Marvel. I do enjoy the idea of Black Cat as kind of the Bugs Bunny of the Avengers.

DC Finest: Teen Titans – The Judas Contract, DC. Always good to see the best Titans story ever back on the shelves.

Dan adds: Includes a bunch of other Titans material too, but The Judas Contract is far and away the draw, obviously. I also think it should be a new treasury edition.

The X-Men #131 Facsimile Edition, Marvel. Looking back at these first appearances, it’s interesting that Kitty Pryde is immediately so charming that it was clear that she was going to be back very soon. A testament to Claremont and Byrne’s talent.

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

Two-Face #3, DC. Very entertaining, very engaging. Very high concept (the existence of an underworld court of “law”) but it works. Written by Christian Ward with interior art by Fabio Veras.

Justice League: The Atom Project #2, DC. Just pointing out that Lesley Leirix Li’s variant cover makes it clear that there was no reason to change Ray Palmer’s outfit. Simple and elegant as it was. (I could go on about unnecessary costume changes. Perhaps I will. Or maybe I have already. Hmm.)

  1. But Uncanny X-Men #131 came out last week, no? (I just opened my shortbox to sanity check. Yes, I picked up my copy last week.)

  2. While we’re on the subject of Facsimile Editions and their scheduled release dates, the Detective Comics #31 facsimile that was supposed to come out today (Wed 2/5/25) didn’t make it, at least not at Midtown Comics (NYC). Midtown says it’s been rescheduled to 2/26. Do you know anything about this, why it may have been rescheduled? (The Batman: The Long Halloween facsimile, also scheduled for today, did come out.)
